Fishing
Updates
July 12, 2009
Wow what a week for fishing at Doc Warner’s! On Monday morning I came around Point Adolphus and came upon one of our boats. It was 8:10am we asked them how they were doing. They replied; very excitedly 18 salmon in the boat! We then heard “watch this I bet we get a salmon within 100 yards”; about 10 seconds went by and sure enough they had another salmon on the line. I think its fun to see young kids catch fish, but it is even more fun to see grown men act like kids catching fish.
Halibut fishing was spectacular! I was expecting a slow down after last week, but I think if anything it picked up a bit. We are seeing a lot bigger fish in the 50 lb class with 100 lb halibut on the dock at least once a day.
Pink salmon are out numbering Silvers and Chums right now by a big margin. The Silvers we are seeing are good sized and pretty fish. We are starting to see Pinks school up in the mouths of streams, both the Delta stream and Duncan creek. Pinks are being caught in all areas of the fishing grounds, log dump, over by the green buoy and at Point Adolphus. I was fishing for Halibut in the black rock area; I could see a salmon jumping in the air in every direction I looked.
On July 25th for those in the Utah area; tune into channel 2 at 11:00PM to watch Adam Eakle on Rough’n It Outdoors! He has been here all week, and has some amazing video and stories to tell.
