Fishing Updates
June 14, 2009

What a week for salmon, on Wednesday there were 11 Kings caught and three more released.  I was on my way down the shoreline to try my luck when I met up with Barry and Linda, Barry held up a 30 lb King to show us; pretty fish!  Chums are in Icy Strait, by the thousands, on Friday one of the boats limited on Pinks, and also on Friday there were 5 Silvers brought in.  Halibut were also strong this week, but they received less attention due to the action on the salmon grounds.  Green flashers with green hoochies seemed to work the best, at times they were being caught deep, but most of the time the salmon were being taken in less than 15 feet down on the down riggers.  Weather again this week was fabulous.  The forecast was for 10 knot winds all week and this time the forecast was very accurate.

We have had some exciting events with eagles this week.  One night a young eagle went for a fish laying on the dock, it missed and took a sharp left turn, and ran right into one of the pilings on the dock; it landed on the dock, regained its sense of direction and took off again.  The biggest King this week was taken in front of South Creek, it was 32 lbs, the 2nd biggest was 31 lbs, and it was taken down by the log dump.
