Fishing Updates

I am happy to report that the shipment of Diet Coke arrived safely.  We have had a few days of spring like weather, but for the most part we are still waiting for spring to arrive.

We have had just two fishing expeditions one was for halibut and we did not even have a strike, the other was in the mouth of Duncan Creek.  The Pink Salmon are leaving the stream and the Dolly Varden are having a feast, we landed several nice ones, Steve Moss landed a 17” Dolly.

The reports on the Alaska Fish and Game website are reporting 126 rod hours per King Salmon harvested in Juneau, and they are also reporting that the cold spring we are having is keeping the sport fishing effort low.  Occasionally we see a troller working the shoreline, but they do not seem to stay long.  The bears are out of their dens, we have seen several combing the beach for the new shoots of grass.

Still no official word on the Halibut limits for this summer, I noticed a change on the King salmon regulations, if you are coming after July 16th this summer if you plan to keep a King it must be greater than 48” in length.
