Fishing Update
August 28 - September 3, 2011

Another successful week at Doc Warner's! The big halibut this week came from Black Rock area at 160 pounds. The second came from Waterfall at 120 pounds. Those two came despite having some of the strongest current and tides that we have had all season. A few tides were so high that the ramp at the edge of the dock was floating at the high point.

The silvers this week started slow and ended real strong. On Monday they were hard to find and on Friday a few boats brought back limits by mid-afternoon. We even had a boat release a decent size king as well. The other pleasant surprise this week was the return of large chums for their fall run. Between the silvers and chums the salmon fishing was fun and exciting.

The weather this week was all over the place. Fortunately we were spared most of the rain as it fell overnight most days. Thursday was absolutely gorgeous. The skies were clear to partly cloudy, we had a sunset that redefined the color spectrum, and the water was smooth. It was definitely one of those days that made it worth going through a wet August just to experience. The daytime temperatures are still in the mid 50's but the mountains have started to change colors on the tops now. Only one week to go…It won't be long until we put everything away and wish the lodge a bitter sweet farewell as we wait to open next season.

Thanks for hooking up for another weekly update.

Mark
